A ready-to-shape maker session

Give first-time designers a friendly way into 3D

Use a guided Blokify project to introduce the controls, then challenge participants to remix or invent a model of their own.

45–60 minute activity outline

From guided building to an original creation

10 minutes: orient

Show how to place a block, rotate the playfield, change views, and undo a choice.

20 minutes: follow

Begin a guided build. Ask participants to predict how each section will support the next.

20 minutes: invent

Move to free play or remix the guided model with a constraint: limited colors, a theme, or a maximum footprint.

Facilitator checklist

Prepare the activity, not a lecture

  • Confirm devices can open and run Blokify before the session.
  • Choose whether participants will use guided mode, free play, or both.
  • Decide how work will be saved and whether community sharing is part of the activity.
  • If printing, test one export and slicer workflow in advance.
  • Budget printer time separately; a digital showcase can happen immediately.

Challenge prompts

Three quick ways to start

  • Castle: build the strongest-looking gate with a limited number of blocks.
  • Space: design a base that could protect explorers from a storm.
  • City: create one structure that makes a neighborhood more fun.
